Van Gaal is a slave to repetition, he wants a machine. But this is not natural for United... there is no joy at Old Trafford with fans worrying about Rooney and mutiny is back in the air

IAN LADYMAN: Louis van Gaal has come in for criticism for the way Manchester United have been playing this season. He is accused of being too rigid and with repetitive training drills. At United the league position will not be allowed to mask issues with the quality of the football, the lack of entertainment. As such Van Gaal, a man who has heard all this before at previous clubs, is under pressure from dyed in the wool, old school supporters who watch their team and wonder why its attacking players don't run with the ball, ask why so many passes go backwards and not forwards and worry over what on earth has happened to Wayne Rooney.
